A robust endowment, well-invested, is the key financial foundation for any school and, for Friends Seminary, represents a bulwark that safeguards the mission through fluctuating economic conditions. It helps the School to compensate teachers, attract a diverse student body, invest in new technologies, and pursue curricular innovation. Gifts to endowment are invested and a portion of the income generated is spent each year. In 2022-23 the endowment stood at $40.4M and contributed $1,643,657 to the operating budget. Over half of the endowment is restricted to financial aid. By contrast, gifts to the Fund for Friends go directly to the operating budget in the year they were given.
