One Successful Season Ends, Another Begins

Winter sports wrapped up a successful season with special congratulations to Saagi ’24 who won the NYSAIS Championship in Triple Jump and to Matthew ’25 who placed second in the 50m freestyle at the NYSAIS Swim Championships.

In swimming, the boys team won the ACIS regular season championship, while the girls placed second. In basketball, the girls team qualified for the AAIS tournament and won their first tournament game in many years. The boys team qualified for the NYSAIS tournament for the 16th time in the last 19 years.

All US spring sports started on March 7, including the first-ever Boys Volleyball Team. Head of Athletics David Lieber comments, “There’s been a lot of interest and we have [had] a nice range of ages sign up. It’s a relatively easy sport to organize because you need only 10 to 15 players for a team, and we have all the resources we need.” This season the team will train on campus and enter the league schedule in 2022-23. Volleyball is enjoying a resurgence nationwide.
