During Peace Week 2022 the community contemplated the Quaker Testimonies and the importance of faith in action—living one’s values and beliefs. There was dedicated time for individual and group reflection on the testimonies and core values integral to the School’s mission. Highlights included a community-wide Meeting for Worship and a talk by Dr. Simran Jeet Signh for US students on living a values-based life.

Related to Peace Week, Head of School, Bo Lauder announced plans to revise Friends Seminary’s Faith and Practice, an expression of the School’s aspirations as an educational community informed by Quaker values. The process of revision will take many months and involve generative participation across the community, concluding with review and approval from the Board of Trustees.

Peace Week was introduced by Bo Lauder in 2004 as a period during which the school community could focus on Peace, through academic and experiential opportunities. Over the years, inspiring speakers such as Jeffrey Sachs, Mary Robinson, James Turrell, Michael Arad and Sonia Nazario have delivered public lectures in the Meetinghouse.
