The Parents Association hosted the K-12 Book Fair in the Upper School Commons from May 17-18. Co-Chair Carly Suber Doran P’32, ’33 commented, “This was more than just a Book Fair, it was a fun community event that brought people together.”
Independent booksellers McNally Jackson partnered with the School to offer a wide selection ranging from picture books and middle grade favorites to books for US students, teachers and parents. Books by authors from the Friends community were featured, including What is Juneteenth? by Kirsti Peters, Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.
Lower School students were each given a $20 budget to support a sense of equality and inclusion. Co-Chair Shiloh Place P’33 commented, “It was fun seeing children choose their favorite books. Some came in with very specific ideas like unicorns. We had to know our inventory!”
PA Co-Chair Sarah Safer P’20, ’24, ’24 commented, “We think this is the first K-12 Book Fair in a long time. People really enjoyed being together and seeing the Upper School Commons, which is beautiful.”
