As another school year comes to a close, Friends continues to honor its cherished traditions while embracing new ones. Across all divisions, the final weeks were filled with celebration, reflection, and meaningful moments of transition. From the joyful Moving Up Ceremonies to the deeply personal Commencement for the Class of 2025, these rituals mark not only the end of the academic year but the continued growth of our students and community.
Academic traditions flourished this spring across all grade levels. In the Lower School, students proudly shared the results of months-long interdisciplinary projects—running their own Post Office, taking flight with Quaker Airlines, and designing new green spaces as part of the Parkitects initiative. Seventh graders deepened their learning through hands-on experiences like Climate Action Day, which asked them to apply math and science skills to real-world environmental challenges. This year also saw continued growth in the Middle School as they pioneered the differentiation program, ensuring that students across a wide range of abilities were supported, stretched, and engaged.
In the Upper School, the Latin Colloquium brought classical studies to life, and seniors stepped beyond the classroom for their culminating projects. These included an immersive course on the History of the Adirondacks—blending scholarship, site visits, and public engagement—as well as a wide array of independent studies and creative explorations.
The year also closed with a new tradition in professional development: faculty-led workshops that centered the wisdom and creativity of Friends teachers themselves. These sessions, designed and facilitated by colleagues across all grade levels, embodied the School’s commitment to collaborative learning—for students and adults alike.
In these stories, we invite you to take a closer look at these end-of-year highlights and the many ways Friends students and educators continue to learn, grow, and celebrate together inspired by Quaker principles and values.
